How to Self Tan Your Back
23rd Feb 2023
In this post, we'll walk you through everything you need to know about self-tanning your back. You try stretching, you try bending, but your hand just won't go where you need it to go. All you want to do is apply a little self-tanner to your back! But alas, there are some places you just can’t reach. So you resort to the next best thing: asking your significant other or roommate to give you a hand. But nobody's home. So you're left to suffer with splotches, right? Nope!
Don't worry, we've got you covered. Here is everything you need to self tan your back, from exfoliating to applying the tanner. By the time you're done reading, you'll be a pro at getting an even, streak-free tan on your back. Let's get started!
Step 1: Exfoliate Your Skin
The first step in self-tanning your back is to make sure that your skin is free of dead cells and other impurities. This will help create a smooth base for the tanner to adhere to, resulting in an even finish. The best way to exfoliate your back is to use a body scrub or loofah sponge in the shower. Gently massage the scrub onto your skin. Rinse off with cool water when finished and pat dry with a towel.
Step 2: The Best Back Applicator for Self-Tanning
One thing we can all agree on: A great tool makes everything easier. Fake Bake® has solved the hard to reach places self-tanning dilemma with our BodyMate® 360° self-tan back applicator, which allows you to spread your self-tanner evenly across your back and other areas of your body for a smooth, seamless glow and perfect distribution.
Just apply a small amount of your favorite self-tanner to the BodyMate® 360°, grab the handles on either end of the applicator, and use a back-and-forth motion, just like you do when drying your back, to apply a nice, even layer of sunless tanner. Repeat this process on your back until you have the same color and tone as the rest of your body.
The BodyMate® is made from high-quality microfiber material that ensures expert application. Measuring 26 inches long by 5 inches wide, it features durable handles that easily glide the surface over tough spots with the right amount of pressure and control. The Fake Bake® back applicator is machine washable. Self-tan like a pro and grab the BodyMate® 360° Self-Tanning Applicator!
Step 3: Wait for the Tanner to Dry
Once you've applied the self-tanner, wait about 10 minutes for it to dry before getting dressed. This will help prevent any staining of your clothing. If possible, try to wear loose-fitting and dark clothing that doesn't constrict your movement; tight clothing can cause streaks or uneven patches as it rubs against the skin while the product is drying.
Step 4: Wait for Your Tan to Develop
Now comes the payoff! Don’t become impatient waiting for your tan to develop. Depending on the product you used, it can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours for the full effect of the self tanner to show. It's important not to shower, swim, or sweat during this time, as this can cause streaks or uneven spots. Once the desired amount of time has passed, hop in the shower and rinse off with cool water. Pat dry with a towel and enjoy your fabulous new glow!
Congratulations, you've now successfully self-tanned your back to match the rest of your beautiful self! Remember to moisturize daily to prolong the life of your tan. We recommend our Mistifier Oil-Free Moisturizing Body Spray. And if you ever need a touch-up, simply repeat steps 2-4 until you achieve the desired result.
